Bunded Chemical Storage - How Does it Work?

During the process of pre chemical storage sometimes there are some leaks. Therefore in the recent years the bunded chemical storage has become an essential part of the pre chemical storage process.

The bunded chemical storage basically employs a bund liner which acts as a spill reservoir. Inside the bund liner the potentially hazardous chemicals can be stored safely. Harmful chemicals such as pesticides are particularly kept in this form of portable storage; otherwise they could leak into the surrounding soil. As a result they can contaminate the soil as well as the groundwater.

The bunded chemical storage is usually a temporary form of storage for drums as well as storage containers in most of the locations. Also the bunded storage is considered an effective method of spill containment.

Bunded chemical storage is also preferred in various wash down applications in which the contaminated water has to be collected. It is also considered suitable for drive on drive off fuel transfers done through fuel transfer vehicles. Also it is an effective method of contamination prevention.

There are two types of bund liners used in bunded chemical storage. The first one uses bund liners that have air inflated walls. The bund liner walls are inflated with the help of a compressor. The second type has bund liners with foam filled side walls. Both types of bunded chemical storage systems are quick and easy to install and use. Usually the bunds used for chemical storage are made from a range of materials. They are usually made of materials that are resistant to chemical & fuels. Also some bunds are made of fat and oil resistant materials.

The bund liners used for the storage are lightweight and can be easily stored while they are not in use. Some models of bund liners come with a storage bag so that they can be easily stored when not in use. Also the bund liners are very easy to clean.

Usually the Bund liners come in a range of stock sizes and are basically meant for small applications. However the bund liners can be manufactured to any size to suit a certain bunded chemical storage requirement.

The fact is bunded chemical storage is an effective way of preventing any environmental hazard in both an indoor and outdoor storage shed.
